All my puzzles so far have been two-dimensional. Where is that third D? I have heard that it grins in scorn at those who attempt to escape it. So I went looking, and here's what I found:
I found someone who competes at picking up very heavy barbells. He lifted a twelve-sided object—but it wasn't flat—it had three dimensions!
I found a small furry animal burying some acorns. It was burying acorns in the town where Wild Bill Hickock was killed!
I found a man who carried a letter of marque. He was unable to make use of it, because he was so sick he couldn't even get up and walk around!
I found a chain of islands. And there I met Thomas, the star of Silicon Valley!
I found a large gray mammal with horns. A lady was riding it asymmetrically!
I found the composer of The Rite of Spring. He was playing some sort of droning Australian stick instrument!
I guess I did find a third D in all these places. But maybe I should have kept better track of where it was.

Hints: Each pair of sentences clues two different words. The two words in the pair should be the same length. And one of those words should contain three Ds.You only care about the location of the third D.The answer to this puzzle is a real word, but it's one you probably have never heard or said or read before. Sorry.
