[Playing - for the SNES and ping pong table]

Playing is an action applying to one thing.

Understand "play [something]" as playing.

Check playing:

say "[The noun] [is-are]n't something you can play." [LAZY]

[knocking on]

Knocking on is an action applying to one thing.

Understand "knock on/at [something]" and "knock [something]" and "tap [something]" and "tap on [something]" as knocking on.

Instead of knocking on something:

try attacking the noun.

Instead of knocking on a door:

say "No one answers."

[Insert more specific rules for knocking on other things elsewhere.]

[kissing]

Understand "kiss [something]" as kissing.

Check kissing when the noun is not a person:

say "[The noun] do[es] not return your affection." instead.

[eating and drinking]

Understand the command "eat" as something new.

Understand "eat [something]" as eating. [so you don't have to be holding something to (try to) eat it]

Understand "drink from [something]" and "drink out of [something]" as drinking.

Instead of drinking something:

say "That's not at all drinkable."

[freaking out - for the (optional) photo of Orchid freaking out in tutorial]

Freaking out is an action applying to nothing.

Understand "freak out" or "panic" as freaking out.

[revisit this response. We should be able to have some fun with it, as an Easter egg for creative players.]

Report freaking out:

Understand "float" and "float in the air" and "float in air" as floating. Understand the command "levitate" as "float".

Instead of screaming in the presence of the ghostly figure:

[exercising]

Exercising is an action applying to nothing.

Understand "exercise" as exercising.

Report exercising:

say "You do a few jumping jacks, breathing deeply and evenly."

[shaking]

Shaking is an action applying to one thing.

Understand "shake [something]" as shaking.

Check shaking the player:

say "You try your best to bring yourself back to your senses." instead.

Check shaking a person:

say "You decide instead to respect [its-their of the noun] personal space." instead.

Check shaking an open tin can:

say "Inadvisable. The contents of the can would get all over everything." instead.

Check shaking something:

if the noun is not portable:

say "Shaking [the noun] could easily have disastrous consequences." instead.

Report shaking a photo:

say "You give the photo a stiff shake[if in darkness][otherwise if the subject of the noun is darkness or the noun is an overexposed photo], but don't notice much of a change[otherwise], and the image seems to become a little clearer[end if].";

stop the action.

Report shaking:

say "Shaking [the noun] produces no obvious effect."
