The Counting Corundum just tells you what letter to extract from the prompt.
The Mixology Malachite anagrams the prompt with an extra letter and gives you a clue for the resulting word; extract the extra letter.
The Transmution Topaz changes one letter in the prompt and gives you a clue for the resulting word; extract the new letter.
The Final Spinel gives you a clue for a word that rhymes with the prompt; extract the letter indicated in square brackets.
The Cohost Corundum tells you what letter to extract from the monster that hosted the puzzle.
