Day 8 - METAPUZZLE: "Curse"

A curse has befallen all my puzzles from days 1-7! All my very clever, mostly thematic answers have been transmogrified! Does anything remain of their former selves? I'd like to find out soon, because I'm afraid I might be turning into something too...

• A cozy feeling turned into some Andean pack animals.
• A laid-back tempo turned into a surly mammal with a big horn.
• A cloud of plant matter turned into a firebreathing lizard.
• A bunch of numbers turned into a devout insect.
• A short branch turned into a bloodsucking arachnid.
• An enchanting, graceful female sea creature turned into a loud, garish male bird.
• A glittering stone turned into a long-lived, loquacious bird.

Hints: The "left side" of each transformation is one of the answers from this round. The "right side" of each transformation is an animal word... ...with the same number of letters as the corresponding answer. The words on both sides of each transformation share a letter at the same position.
