Errata, April 12, 7:16 PM: Sarah W. showed me that I did a whoopsie
I had a very hard time coming up with a puzzle today, and was forced to branch out into some, shall we say, nonstandard directions.
- Horizontal Row 1
- Bring to light, as a scandal, or film
- Movie that David Lynch says was inspired by a particular Bible passage
- Horizontal Row 2
- Nickname of Castlevania and Bloodstained producer
- Apparatus that receives proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum
- Bent with elbows outward, hands on your hips
- Horizontal Row 3
- Refuses to allow a subscription to lapse
- Places to taste rosés in Napa
- Arnett of "SmartLess"
- Horizontal Row 4
- Simon who fights/commits crime as "The Saint"
- Other surname of Borges
- Horizontal Row 5
- Night that begins "If music be the food of love..."
- Flightless bird haunting fourth season of Arrested Development
- Horizontal Row 6
- Bearded actor married to Mullally
- People who deal in warps and wefts
- Horizontal Row 7
- Languages like Akkadian, Arabic, Hebrew, or Phoenician
- There are supposedly exactly seven of these bodies of water
- Middle name of mustachioed assassin, portrayed by James Marsden in Zoolander
- Horizontal Row 8
- "Safe to drink," referring to water, when you're being too fancy to call it "drinkable"
- Conservation status of aurochs
- Horizontal Row 9
- Of a quadrilateral, having more equal side lengths, or angles closer to ninety degrees
- Barbara of Double Indemnity
- Horizontal Row 10
- The _______, a computer game where all you do is walk around an island and solve mazes
- Creepy faceless thing in department store window
Hints: The answers are fairly googleable, but the first one in the ninth row is kind of stupid. It's "SQUARER." Sorry. But some of the rows don't fit! Search those rows for "nonstandard directions." When you see the substrings NE, SE, SW, or NW (either within a word or at word boundaries), give those two letters a single square. Now everything fits! Start reading diagonally from the top left (this is a common puzzle technique, for some reason). But when you reach the first "NE," start reading diagonally "northeast" instead!
