You know that “Visit Skuga Lake” is the story Leah Naidu is presenting, right?
[[Yeah, I know.]]
[[Who’s Leah Naidu?]]Okay. Well, let’s make our way to the Geologic Library, then.
[[How many libraries are there?]]
[[Do you have some kind of problem with Leah?]]Leah Naidu is the coolest author out of any of us here. But she’s also the meanest.
[[What did she do to you?]]A LOT.
[[Do you have some kind of problem with Leah?]]I don’t have any problem with her personally. She’s just kind of scary. Did you know she’s in a band?
Hey, check out this painting.
[[You’re changing the subject.]]Yes! Now, this is a landscape by Lucio Herrera, painted in 1971. //Blue Mountain// is the title, but the depiction of the mountain is really secondary to the effect Herrera has created of clouds obscuring the moon. It’s just infuriating how good of a painting this is.
It used to hang in the Rebecca Hall on the other side of the castle, but it was moved here in 2015. Do you want to know why?
[[Sure.]]Okay, let’s make sure nobody is watching, and I will lift up the painting just enough for you to look behind it...
Do you see it?
[[Someone punched through the wall?]]Yes! Now let’s hurry along to the Geologic Library.
[[Who punched through the wall?]]I’ll tell you later.
Hey, here we are! The Geologic Library!
The dusty shelves of this capacious chamber bear a thousand or more scientific grimoires dealing with plate tectonics, metallurgy, mineralogy, speleology, and other more abstruse disciplines—more knowledge than you or I could hope to learn in a lifetime. The collection is almost as old as Castle Balderstone itself. One cannot help but wonder, though—
“Please take your seats,” a voice calls, interrupting my monologue. “I’m afraid this story might run a little long, so I want to get started right away.”
The voice belongs to Leah Naidu! She’s looking right at us—witheringly, I might add. What did I tell you?
[[We’re the only ones who aren’t sitting yet.]]
[[You need to calm down.]]Why do you assume it’s about me? If you ask anyone else they’ll tell you the same thing. But don’t ask anyone, because that’d be rude, and I’d end up getting in trouble.
Hey, check out this painting.
[[You’re changing the subject.]]Hey, you’re right. Let’s find somewhere to sit.
“Thank you,” says Leah. “Now, I’m not one for elaborate introductions, and anyway we don’t have time for one. So!”
With that, she opens a notebook (link: "and begins to read...")[(goto-url: 'skuga.html')]You think I’m overreacting? I’ll show you over—Hey, let go—Okay, okay, okay, I’ll sit down.
